Japan Business Visa – Non-US Citizens:
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL BUSINESS VISAS
- A) Applicant’s Passport: original, undamaged, and valid for at least another 6 months beyond the intended stay
- Foreign nationals residing in the USA also need to provide a notarized copy of the Permanent Resident Card (the Green Card) or valid U.S. visa with a valid I-94 card.
- B) A Copy of an Immigration document: showing your legal status and permitting reentry into the U.S., such as a permanent residency card or U.S. visa.
- F-1visa must present a copy of the endorsed I-20 form.
- J-1 visa needs to present a copy of the endorsed DS-2019/IAP-66 form.
- H1-B visa needs to present an endorsed copy of the I-797 form
- If you do not intend to return to the U.S. after exiting Japan, a visa to the next destination (if required) must be affixed to your passport before you apply for a Japanese visa.
- B1/B2 is not acceptable.
- C) Visa Application Form: Visa Application completed online, typed, and signed. If any spaces are not used they must be filled with N/A. The consulate will reject applications that are not fully completed.
- D) Photograph: 2 Passport-type photographs are required. (No glasses, with the applicants, face in plain view, and ears must be showing). The consulate will only accept actual 2×2 passport-type photographs from a reputable source, i.e., Kinko’s, Walgreens, CVS, etc. Photos printed at home or from an office printer will not be accepted under any circumstances. Photos sent in an invalid format will be rejected and cause a delay in submission at the traveler’s expense.
- E) Business Letter: Meeting the requirements listed below: If your company is requesting a multiple-entry visa, please request it in this letter, and give us the consulate the reasons why multiple entries are needed.
- Original: original signature of a senior manager;
- Issued by the applicant’s company/employer in the United States; State the following information
- Nature of business of the U.S. company;
- Applicant’s title and/or functions with the U.S. company;
- Detailed information concerning the nature of business and activities to be conducted in Japan;
- Responsibility of the U.S. company that the applicant will not be pursuing any activities that are incompatible with a business visa (such as paid work, technical assistance, or technical training) during his/her stay in Japan;
- Name(s) and address (es) of the Japanese company (ies) with which the applicant is going to deal/negotiate;
- Name(s) of the person(s) to be contacted in Japan, phone number(s), and his/her/their functions with the Japanese company (ies);
- Expected travel dates of the trip to Japan;
- Responsibility of the U.S. company for the applicant’s stay in Japan and his/her return to the country of origin;
- F) Invitation Letter from a company in Japan

- G) Itinerary: For all applicants, a copy of airline and hotel confirmations with the name of the traveler.
- H) Power of Attorney: Complete documents signed, date, and print name.
- I) Letter of Authorization: Complete documents signed, date, and print name.
- J) Schedule of Stay: For all applicants, a daily business schedule or agenda in Japan is required.
- K) Additional Requirements for Multiple Entry Requests
- Japan Stock Certificate and applicants’ W2 and 6 months’ bank statements.
